What do you like best about studying at UMass Boston?

I believe, as an international student, it is much easier in Boston to adjust to life in a foreign country. Moreover, people are so kind here. We always help each other and share discussions about our class materials or common things.

What are some of your favorite things you have done in Boston so far?

My new friends! I love to experience different cultures and I think Boston is the best place to make friends with students from other countries. In Boston, many cultures are mixed and welcomed!

Pre Master's Program, MS-Computer Science

What do you like best about studying at UMass Boston?

The school attracts a lot of international students. I really wanted to meet students from different cultures and backgrounds.

Why did you choose to study in Boston or the USA?

I have a dream and if you have a dream you need to protect your dream. I wanted to push myself to become stronger in IT and programming. I want to use this program as a foundation to my lifelong dream and career goals. I would like to start my own business and improve my confidence with information technology systems.

Nearly one year

Are you part of any UMASS Boston sporting teams or clubs?

Yes, the table tennis team. I am one of the top five players on the school team and I will be playing against other school teams in Boston every semester.

What advice would you vie potential students who are thinking of studying at UMASS Boston?

When you are all the way across the Atlantic, maximize your chances of making friends by meeting people from different cultures.

How did the Navitas program or staff help with your adjustment to life in Boston?

They are extremely helpful.

What do you like best about studying at UMass Boston?

Studying at UMass Boston didn't make me feel like a new comer in a strange new place; I got the feeling of being at home. Being in this diverse campus society makes me feel like being part of the United Nations-you'll hear a lot of languages spoken in the same time and place!

Please describe a particular experience you have had so far with your Navitas courses.

I never thought that being in a college, I could still be noticed personally. Navitas lecturers really pay attention to the students and help us with our studies. They are truly patient and give us feedback for the work we do, whether it's constructive or praising!

Why did you choose to study in Boston or the USA?

I chose to study in Boston because of its long history. Also, I wanted to study in this world famous city surrounded by world famous universities.

How did the Navitas program or staff help with your adjustment to life in Boston?

I think all the staff are really nice. They helped me overcome many challenges. For example, if I need to adjust my course schedule, they will try their best to help me, even if the classes are full.

What types of food or other parts of your culture can you find in Boston?

I can find lots of Chinese food in Chinatown. For example: Dim Sum, Zongzi, Mooncake, etc.

What do you like best about studying at UMass Boston?

The professors are very knowledgeable about subjects. What I really love is that they put a lot of pressure on us by giving us lots of homework, but I believe it is good pressure.

What do you enjoy most about the campus?

I love the fact that it's near the water. There are many great spots to focus on your homework or just relax with friends.

Would you recommend UMass Boston to your family and friends?

Yes, I would recommend UMass Boston to my family and friends.

How did the Navitas staff help with your adjustment to life in Boston?

They are amazing-friend, helpful, attentive, and are always available.

Why did you choose to study in Boston or the USA?

When choosing where to continue my education, I had two places in mind, LA and Boston. However, it was clear for me that Boston was the right place, being the education capital of the USA.

How did the Navitas program or staff help with your adjustment to life in Boston?

Navitas staff is really helpful. They made a bridge for me to enter the American culture. Orientation was also beneficial and very important.

What advice would you give potential international students who are thinking of studying at UMASS Boston?

The cold weather surprised me a lot. Be prepared and open minded.

What are some of your favourite things you have done in Boston so far?

I participated in a soccer tournament. I was on the intramural team for Men's 6 on 6 leagues.

How did the Navitas program or staff help with your adjustment to life in Boston?

Exploring Boston with other Navitas students and staff was really fun. I was very surprised and impressed with how many different nationalities we have represented here on campus.

What advice would you give potential international students who are thinking of studying at UMass Boston?

To all Vietnamese students-be more confident!

What do you like best about studying at UMass Boston?

It's a big university! I can meet a lot of new people and there is always plenty of things to do around campus.

What makes Boston a great city for international students?

It's very diverse. There is an abundance of people from all over the world, plus I can find anything here.

What do you enjoy most about the campus?

Great facilities, awesome swimming pool and gym.

How did the Navitas program or staff help you with your adjustment to life in Boston?

There are loads of great people working in the Navitas office and I can ask them anything, even in my native language.
